What is Plant Based Eating?

Plant-based eating patterns are eating patterns focused on foods primarily derived from plants. Vegans and vegetarians may be said to follow plant-based eating.  According to Merriam-Webster, a vegan is "an individual who does not eat any animal-derived products." and, according to the National Kidney Foundation, a vegetarian is "an individual who does not eat any meat, fish, or poultry". Vegans avoid milk, eggs and honey in addition to meat, fish and poultry since these food products are derived from animals. Foods that fall under the category of plant-based eating include fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, oils, whole grains, beans, and legumes.

Why go Vegan?

Vegan or plant-based diet does not include any animal products, such as meat, dairy, and eggs. When followed appropriately, a vegan lifestyle can be a very healthy one. A vegan diet is highly nutritious, and reduces the risk of many diseases, and also helps in weight loss.
